Highly durable: Page 4

Intermediate sleeves made of carbon fibre-reinforced plastics (CRP) allow high speeds even on long couplings. In comparison to steel sleeves, the CRP variants have a far higher bend-critical speed. Apart from that, the CRP sleeves weigh up to 80 % less. This characteristic is particularly valued for large construction sizes and with long sleeves.

In many test stands, combinations of shaft couplings and torque limiting clutches are used in order to protect expensive and important test stand components and test items from overload damage. If the torque exceeds the limit value set on the torque limiting clutch, it disengages and separates input and output. On test stands operating at high speeds and with large mass moments of inertia, residual torque-free disconnecting overload clutches are preferred so that stored kinetic energy can slow down freely.

For decades, mayr power transmission have successfully applied backlash-free shaft couplings of various construction types in test stands. In addition to the disk pack couplings described, steel bellows couplings and elastomer couplings have consistently proven their worth. As global market leader, the company are also able to offer the widest product range of load holding, load disconnecting, torque and force limiting, magnetic, controllable and switchable torque limiting clutches. The Mauerstetten power transmission specialist has an optimum shaft coupling, torque limiting clutch or a combination of both for nearly every test stand construction requirement.
