Perfect Overload Protection: Page 4

Limit torques can even be changed during operation

On all the load holding and load separating torque limiting clutches named above, the required limit torque for overload is permanently set via spring or magnetic forces. Positive locking adjustment nuts with calibration or a torque which can be directly read off allow reliable and precise adjustment. The torque can therefore also be changed at a standstill, during operation, however, it remains constant. In contrast, it is possible to change the torque on the pneumatic or electrical switchable and controllable torque limiting clutches EAS-Sp, EAS-Sm and EAS-Zr even in operation via the current amplitude or the air pressure so that they can continually adapt  to the production process. These clutches, which are also suitable for connecting system parts at low speeds, were especially conceived for automated machines with changing operating conditions or changing cycle sequences or cycle rates.

EAS-element clutches separate the input and output nearly residual torque-free on overload. On collision, the stored rotational energy can slow down freely. These clutches are the preferred choice in drives with large mass moments of inertia.

Optimum overload protection for each drive

mayr power transmission, global market leader for torque limiting clutches, offers a rounded range of about a dozen torque limiting clutch families for nearly all application areas in a torque range of 0.1 to 280,000 Nm. Different construction designs within each product family ensure that there is a suitable clutch variant for each drive constellation. So-called flange designs are for example available with single or double bearings for the drive element or as designs with particularly long hubs for supporting additional bearings and very wide drive elements. These clutch construction forms are screwed directly onto the drive element and mounted onto a shaft. Another large group is the double-shaft designs. Here the torque limiting clutch is combined with a torsionally rigid or flexible shaft coupling. These construction designs connect
two shafts and compensate for radial, axial and angular shaft misalignment. As well as the two large construction design groups "flange designs" and  "double-shaft designs", each product family contains further very special type-specific construction designs. Each product family and each construction design is available in several different sizes. In this way, mayr power transmission is able to offer the widest variety of torque limiting clutches.

And should even this largest international assortment of torque limiting clutches still prove insufficient to cover specific requirements, mayr power transmission possess the competencies required to develop a customer-tailored solution based on their years of experience.
