A reliable partner – also in times of crisis

Mayr power transmission invests both in the company's headquarters and internationally: Construction of new production hall to begin in October 2025
A reliable partner – also in times of crisis

Mayr power transmission has set clear investment goals for the future: The company management approved the construction of a new production hall at the Mauerstetten site. The new hall 9b opens up potential for automation and creates space for new, innovative manufacturing technology. Furthermore, the investment is a visible commitment to the location and the region. Construction began in October 2025. Meanwhile, Mayr is also investing in its plant in Poland in order to strengthen the Mayr Group's international logistics.

Mayr power transmission is expanding its headquarters in Mauerstetten by adding a new production hall. Construction of hall 9b began in October 2025 after the Management Board green-lighted the project in the summer. By adding this new building, the well-known family business is closing a gap in the master plan for the location. In addition to improvements in material and logistics processes, the new building opens up potential for automation projects and provides space for new machines and innovative manufacturing technologies, for example for surface finishing. There will also be new social areas for employees, as well as new office and meeting rooms for production-related departments.

Clear commitment to the location and region

“The economic, political, and social framework conditions are challenging at present, and the uncertainties could hardly be more pronounced. Despite this, or perhaps precisely because of it, we are consciously setting the course for our future, thus creating opportunities to shape it successfully,” says Ferdinand Mayr, CEO of Mayr power transmission. “With the new construction of Hall 9b, we are once again emphasizing our clear and long-term commitment to Mauerstetten and the Allgäu region, our home region. Of course, it is also intended to stimulate growth for our company. We aim to leverage the full potential of automation, further increase our productivity, and develop safe, reliable, and innovative products. This is the clear objective and expectation we have set for ourselves when making this investment.”

At its headquarters in Mauerstetten, Mayr power transmission currently has a production area of around 23,500 square meters and 9,500 square meters of office and administrative space. With hall 9b, an additional 2,857 square meters of production, office, and logistics space will be added, with a building footprint of 2,100 square meters. “We are digging further into the mountain by adding the new hall. This increases construction costs, but on the one hand it reduces soil sealing and on the other hand it keeps material flows compact,” explains Ferdinand Mayr. In addition to the plant in Mauerstetten with around 750 employees, Mayr power transmission operates further production sites internationally: In Zhangjiagang in China employing 105 people, since October 2024 in Halol in India currently employing 12 people, and in Ostrzeszów, Poland, employing around 430 people and also currently under construction.

Maintaining the Mayr Group's international competitiveness and stability even in times of crisis

One of the Mayr Group's largest halls is currently being built in Poland, covering an area of 4,600 square meters. This is supplemented by a 1,300 square meter pole storage area. “This new hall will be used for assembly and logistics, providing us with more space and greater flexibility,” explains Christoph Dropmann, CTO of the Mayr Group and Managing Director of Mayr Poland. “The hall will basically become a logistics hub for Europe. This allows us to utilize the opportunities offered by the production network and leverage the strengths of each plant in order to respond more flexibly to global trade.” So while investments at the headquarters in Germany are mainly going into innovative manufacturing technologies, Mayr Poland is evolving into a logistics hub. “Without Poland and the other international production sites, the company headquarters would not be in such a stable position as it is today,” adds Ferdinand Mayr. “Our international strategy enables us to compete on the global market. We expect to continue growing at all locations, including our headquarters, in the future.”

Mayr Poland celebrated its 30th anniversary last year (2024). Christoph Dropmann, who has supported and shaped the development of the site from the outset together with his Allgäu colleagues Peter Daffner (COO) and Christian Illig (CFO), summarizes the progress made as follows: “Our Polish location, with a strong local management team, has seen steady development over the decades and has grown continuously. All the halls have become larger and are now of the highest standard. Photovoltaic systems are mandatory on all roofs; we have created state-of-the-art storage areas for raw materials such as steel, and added new parking lots. These are important because growth naturally results in new jobs being created, which in turn mean new employees.” With these investments, Mayr is living up to its own claim of being a reliable partner even in times of crisis – both internally for its employees and externally for its customers. “We have been an independent family business since 1897. This not only refers to the Mauerstetten site, but to the entire Mayr Group worldwide: We have a shared set of values and a shared culture which provide us with stability,” Dropmann continues. “Times are not looking bright at the moment. Poland's neighbor Ukraine is at war, and the global economy is under pressure. It is precisely at times like these that we realize how important our sense of cohesion is.”
