Maritime applications are heavy-duty applications: high forces and torques, large machines and components, and massive loads are the norm. Add to this a particular challenge for metals – the ever-present, highly corrosive saltwater.
This unique combination of extreme conditions poses new challenges for every component. In such environments, reliable safety brakes, safety clutches, and shaft couplings are essential – components that transmit torques precisely despite all the harshness, interrupt transmission reliably, and when required, handle the enormous friction work that arises.
The robust motor brake ROBA-stop M® in frame size 2000 delivers, for example, a significantly higher braking torque than the smaller standard frame sizes of the series and is, at up to 3,500 Nm, ideally suited for large applications with extreme loads.
The ROBA-stop M® series has proven its reliability millions of times in the field. It offers great flexibility thanks to numerous options, from manual release to encoder mounting. This makes the safety brake ROBA-stop M® – even in frame size 2000 – an all-rounder for industrial applications.
When even greater corrosion protection is required, the ROBA-stop® S is the ideal choice. The proven seawater-resistant safety brake is sealed against dust and water and, with its enclosed cast steel housing and robust corrosion protection, is built for harsh environments. The wide braking torque range of up to 1,200 Nm also makes the ROBA-stop® S the first choice whenever reliable holding force is required. The seawater-resistant brake in size 11 additionally makes maintenance particularly simple, fast, and safe. The rear of the housing is closed with a cover. For service interventions – such as a rotor replacement – only this cover needs to be opened. The heavy brake remains securely mounted.
