Application

The ROBA®-linearstop is designed for use with linear movements. It can be used wherever a piston rod is available or can be additionally attached. It prevents unintentional sinking or falling of gravity-loaded axes.

The ROBA®-linearstop in electromagnetic and hydraulic versions are designed as clamping units and are suitable for EMERGENCY STOP braking. The pneumatic version Type 381.1 is also suitable for dynamic braking.
 

Limits of use

  • Not suitable for use in heavily polluted environments
  • Not suitable for use in high ambient temperatures >60 °C
  • Not suitable for use in liquid media
  • Not suitable for use in vacuum
  • Not suitable for contact with abrasive media (e.g. rubbing and grinding dust)
  • Not suitable for contact with aggressive, corrosive media (e.g. solvents, acid, lye, salt, etc.)
  • Not suitable for contact with foodstuffs

Functionality

The ROBA®-linearstop is an electromagnetic, pneumatic or hydraulic safety brake.

In the de-energised state, a spring acts on a clamping element. The piston rod is clamped.

When the required operating pressure is applied or a voltage is applied, the clamping element is pushed or pulled against the spring. The piston rod can be moved.
