FAQ - frequently asked questions

Torsionally stiff in a coupling means that the coupling is capable of transmitting torque effectively without exhibiting major deformation or compliance. A torsionally stiff coupling allows precise and reliable power transmission between two or more drive components without major losses or inaccuracies.

Radial misalignment describes an angular error between two shaft centerlines. It refers to the lateral displacement or deflection of the rotating elements and occurs when the connected shafts are not perfectly aligned or when thermal expansions during operation cause the shaft position to change.

Torsionally stiff shaft couplings are used in various applications including the following:

  • servo drives
  • highly dynamic drives with high speeds
  • heavy-duty applications
  • torque transducers
