mayr® hollow shaft brake: Braking solutions for feedthroughs

mayr® hollow shaft brake: Braking solutions for feedthroughs

  • Large free inner diameter
  • Low mass inertia
  • Easy to integrate into feedthroughs

mayr® hollow shaft brakes are highly integrable braking systems specifically designed for applications with feedthroughs of all types—for example, optical, mechanical, electrical, etc.

Application examples

  • EO/IR turret
  • Gimbal
  • Telescope
  • Satellite reception; radar
  • Drive systems with torque motors
  • Robotics
  • Machine tools
  • Rotary table / swivel units
  • Medical technology
  • Tower structures

Different operating principles

1. As a safety brake based on the fail-safe principle:

The brake is designed as a spring-applied brake and engages when the power supply is interrupted. To release the brake, the supply voltage must be applied.

Application

  • Static holding
  • Dynamic braking

2. As a clamping unit based on the energized-to-engage principle:

The unit clamps by active energization. In the de-energized state, the clamping unit is open.

Application

  • static, backlash-free holding
