Load-separating, torque-limiting safety clutches protect rotary movements. Once the preset torque is reached, the clutches separate the drive and output. The torque transmission is interrupted mechanically, extremely quickly and with virtually no residual torque (if a ball-detent limiter is used). If the torque transmission is to be completely interrupted in the event of an overload, a load-separating torque limiter is the right choice. Load-holding torque limiters are suitable as safety clutches if the torque is to be limited but not interrupted in the event of an overload.
