Unintended Car Movement (UCM) is a significant risk for elevators. Simple defects in central electric or mechanical components can cause severe harm when cabins move out of their position unexpectedly. Therefore, protective systems have been mandatory for all elevators built after January 1, 2012. But what about older installations?
