A load-holding safety coupling limits the torque to the set value, but does not interrupt the torque transmission in the event of an overload - it holds the load with the set torque. This is particularly important for vertically or obliquely moving masses, which must not fall uncontrollably.
A load-holding torque limiting clutch is, for example, the ROBA® -slip hub. This is a slip clutch that transmits the torque by frictional engagement. This means that this overload clutch transmits the torque via friction linings that are preloaded with disk springs. The more the cup springs are compressed by the adjusting nut, the higher the transmittable torque. This safety slip clutch thus ensures reliable safety even at high torques and loads.
