ROBA®-quick is an “energize to engage”, electromagnetic pole face brake. When DC voltage is applied to the magnetic coil, a magnetic field is built up. The armature disk is attracted to the brake coil carrier with friction lining. The braking torque runs from the coil carrier via the friction lining, armature disk, and membrane transmission spring to the flange and shaft. If the magnetic coil is de-energized, the membrane transmission spring draws the armature disk back to the flange. The brake is released, and the shaft can rotate freely.
