ROBA®-topstop® is a modular safety brake system for an A-bearing-side servomotor attachment.

Secure axes under heavy gravitational load against unintended falling or crashing
In de-energized condition, several thrust springs press against an armature disk. The armature disk thus pushes the rotor against the flange. The flange and armature disk clamp and brake the rotor, which has friction linings for this. The rotor is connected with the shaft or shrink disk hub with positive locking via toothing.
A magnetic force is generated in the coil carrier by application of a coil nominal voltage. The magnetic force attracts the armature disk against the spring pressure to the coil carrier. Armature disk and flange release the rotor, the brake is released. The rotor can rotate freely, and accordingly, so too can the shrink disk hub or shaft.
